As part of our history, we would like to honor and remember members who have passed. Their sacrifices, tireless work and innovative ideas are what made New Milford Rifle & Pistol Club what it is today. Although we may struggle to fill their shoes we carry on that tradition in their memory.

LEWIS (LEW) DAVY (1943-2018)
Lewis D. Davy, 75, of New Milford, entered into rest on Jan. 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois.
Lew is also survived by his children: Kim and Lanny God, Bob and Veronica Davy, and Jason Davy; five grandchildren: Nathan Hines, Rachel Hines, Robert Davy Jr., Cheyanne Davy, and Stacie Davy; a sister, Anitra Woodbury; his mother-in-law, Margaret Mogridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Lew was employed with Procter & Gamble for 23 years. After retiring from P&G, he continued his career in real estate. He was an active member of the community, serving with the Tunkhannock Community Ambulance as an EMT and past president; Wyoming County Emergency Management Association as a communications officer; and participated in emergency drills.
He also volunteered as a Little League Coach. Lew became a licensed amateur radio operator and was a charter member and former president of the Endless Mountain Amateur Radio Club. Lew was a member of Susquehanna County Foundation Sportsman's Club as an alternate delegate, a member of the New Milford Gun Club, and a member of the Harford Lodge 445 F&AM.
He enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing, and lived on a farmette with their two beloved horses. His family has fond memories of gathering around a camp fire, singing, and hearing him play the harmonica. Lew truly enjoyed his life, adored his family, and his community.
A prayer service was held on Monday, Jan. 8, at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home Inc. with Father David Cramer.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

Larry (Hammer) Braungard (1945-2017)
Lawrence C. Braungard "Hammer" 72, of Great Bend, PA entered into rest on October 3, 2017. Larry is survived by his five children, Jason and Lana Braungard, Tania Braungard, Tina Braungard, Lisa and Tony Smith, and Ariel Braungard; nine grandchildren, John, Kasey, Anthony, Alexis, Siamon, Tylor, Keagan, Ava, and Mason; great grandson, Braydon; a sister, Eileen Braungard; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Gladys Braungard. Larry was formerly employed for many places in many positions, including: a tool and dye maker, worked in maintenance, and drove a truck all for Magnetic Labs, served as a Great Bend/Hallstead Police Officer, and owned and operated Forest Lake Inn. He was a man of many trades and many names. Larry served with the US Army during Vietnam. He became a member of the V.F.W. Post #6223 and the American Legion Post #357. He was known for helping people. He was loved and cherished by his family and will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, and sister. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the V.F.W. Post #6223, Great Bend, PA. Internment will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Robert A. Coy (1936-2017)
Robert A. Coy, 80, of Montrose, PA, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was born on October 1, 1936 in Franklin Twp., PA to the late Eugene A. and Elizabeth C. (Mead) Coy. He is survived by his loving companion of 12 years, Beverly (Fraser) Chapel.
He is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Nancy Coy, New Milford, PA, Allen and Amy Coy, Montrose, PA, close member of the family, Pam Oleniacz, Kingsley, PA, grandchildren, Renee, Ryan, Raelene, Ashley, Amber, Tanya Cameron, Erika Megivern, and Shaun Holtzmaster, great grandchildren, Melina, Owen, Emmory, and Beverly's daughter, Sheri, sister, Dorothy Carter, Montrose, PA, brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Eleanor Coy, Montrose, PA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Heidi Snow, Montrose, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was also predeceased by his wife, Miriam E. (Snow) Coy, in 2004.
Robert was a Montrose High School graduate and owned several businesses. He was a great craftsman. He was a member of the Montrose United Fire Company for 59 ½ years, he was the past president and trustee, and the relief treasurer for 20 some years. He was a life member of the New Milford Rifle and Pistol Club, NRA, and member of the Board of Directors for EMHS. He attended Franklin Hill Presbyterian Church, Forest Lake Baptist Church and was a member of the Franklin Forks United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, PA with Pastor Joe Travis officiating. Visitations will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Interment will be at the Brookside Cemetery, Franklin Twp., PA.

Frank I. Bliss (1930-2016)
Frank I. Bliss, 86, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest peacefully on August 11, 2016 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Wells Bliss. Frank is also survived by three children, Laurie Gili, Donald Bliss, and Jennifer Bliss; a granddaughter, Carli Hegedus; two grandsons, Jacob Bliss and Jordan Bliss; three great grandchildren, Gavin, Grayson, and Bailey Hegedus; two sisters, Margaret Mogridge and Dorothy (Crane) Rock; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Frank Patrick Bliss and infant Scott; and a brother, Henry Bliss. Frank retired from Agway Petroleum. He served with the US Army during Korea. Frank was a life member of the American Legion Post #357, a member of the NRA, a life and charter member of the New Milford Riffle and Pistol Club. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed going on trips to see the elks. Frank was an excellent husband, wonderful father, and an adoring grandfather. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday August 15, 2016 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery. Thomas J. Shields (1943-2016)
Thomas J. Shields, 73, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest peacefully on April 29, 2016 with his loving wife, Barbara J. (Emerson) Shields by his side. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jenny Shields. Tom is survived by two sons, James and Pamela Shields and John Shields; three grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, and Kate; a step daughter, Lisa and Jason Townsend; three step grandchildren, Lilly, Noah, and Micah; a sister, Shirley Jay; and several nieces and nephews. Tom graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1961. His desire to learn led him to Broome Community College in 1968, where he studied Soil Conservation. He enjoyed farming and began his own business "Southern Tier Hydro-Seeding" and also worked in Flood Control. Tom retired as the Supervisor of Bridge Construction for PennDOT. He spent many hours overseeing the construction of the Hallstead/Great Bend bridge over the Susquehanna River. Tom was employed with Broome County Soil & Water Conservation District before working for PennDOT. Tom was very artistic and created Technical Drawings and worked on leather projects. He often practiced trap shooting along with many other shooting sports. He felt at home outdoors and could be found ice fishing and reloading shells for target practice and hunting. A funeral service will be held at noon, on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 until the start of the service at noon. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to your favorite charity or organization.

Laurence R. "Larry" Osterhout (1919-2016)
Laurence R. Osterhout, 96, of Hallstead, PA passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016 at Barnes-Kasson SNF. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Sara Osterhout, a brother, Willis Roosa, and a sister, Jean Cushman.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Donna and Don Comer, Hallstead, PA; a son, Albert (Butch) Osterhout, Hallstead, PA; four grandchildren, David and Lisa Comer, Daniel and Sandra Comer, William Osterhout, Christina Rex; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Jones, Binghamton, NY, and Leah Wooster, Columbus, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry retired from Pennsylvania American Water. He was a proud Navy veteran serving on The USS Balch during WWII, the Asian Pacific Theatre, and the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #357 and the V.F.W. Post #6223. When he returned from WWII he earned his private airplane pilot’s license along with a group of other WWII veterans in our area. Larry was a member of the Hallstead/Great Bend Rod and Gun Club, the New Milford Rifle and Pistol Club, and past master and member of the Bluestone Lodge for over 60 years.
Larry loved to hunt, fish, and tend his vegetable and flower gardens. He took great pleasure in sharing fish and vegetables with his friends and family. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Charles Bolles (1926-2014)
88, formerly of Franklin Hill, was reunited with the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Theresa Bolles on December 8, 2014. She predeceased him in 2006. Charlie is survived by his children, Sharon and William Sherwood, Kirkwood, NY, Sherry Orth, Reading, PA and Arthur Robert Bolles, Merced, CA; two grandchildren, Billy and Rhonda Sherwood, NC, Michael and Brenda Sherwood, NV; three great grandchildren, Jessie and Courtney Sherwood, and Kailey Sherwood; a brother, Arthur and Marion Bolles; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Randall, Grace Decker, and Josephine McKinney, and a brother, Robert Bolles. Charlie served with the US Army during World War II. He was employed as a feed salesman. Charlie also worked on his own farm. He liked to coon hunt, shoot trap, and make his own maple syrup. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in Franklin Hill Cemetery. Raymond C. Cobb (1939-2014)
Raymond C. Cobb, 75, of Franklin Hill, Pa., entered into rest on Aug. 11, 2014, at his home.
He was the son of the late Clifford and Evelyn Chamberlin Cobb. Ray was also predeceased by his brothers, Kenny Cobb, Floyd Cobb and Francis Cobb; and a sister, Bonnie Lou Yarnes.
He is survived by four brothers, Harold Cobb, Garry and DeLores Cobb, James and Donna Cobb and Dale and Judy Cobb; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close friend and fellow retired state trooper, John Prushinski.
Ray served with the United States Marine Corps. He then served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, criminal investigator and fire marshal. He proudly served his community. Upon retiring, Ray worked with Rich for Tom Beese in caring for properties in the Franklin Hill area. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on flower beds, mowing, hunting and fishing. Raymond C. Cobb, 75, of Franklin Hill, Pa., entered into rest on Aug. 11, 2014, at his home.
He was the son of the late Clifford and Evelyn Chamberlin Cobb. Ray was also predeceased by his brothers, Kenny Cobb, Floyd Cobb and Francis Cobb; and a sister, Bonnie Lou Yarnes.
He is survived by four brothers, Harold Cobb, Garry and DeLores Cobb, James and Donna Cobb and Dale and Judy Cobb; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close friend and fellow retired state trooper, John Prushinski.
Ray served with the United States Marine Corps. He then served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, criminal investigator and fire marshal. He proudly served his community. Montrose, PA: Richard John Greenwood, 44, of Montrose, PA, went home with the Lord after an extended illness on Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home. He was born in Binghamton, NY on March 3, 1970. He was President of the Association of United Professionals for over 20 years, President of the Hallstead-Great Bend Rod and Gun Association, President of the Susquehanna County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs. He was a NYS Master Instructor of Hunter Education, NRA Certified Instructor and NRA Life Member. Richard was an avid shooter, hunter, and outdoorsman. He lived every day to the fullest and inspired all those around him with his unwavering strength and courage. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Bridgewater Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Kadlecik officiating. Interment will be in the Montrose Cemetery. GEORGE W. KENYON, 89, of New Milford, PA passed away on February 10, 2013 at the home of his daughter, Linda. His loving wife of 41 years, was the former Margaret Caroline Livingston, who predeceased him in 1989, from ALS. He was born, April 16, 1923, in Hickory, NC, son of the late Floyd and Marguerite Kenyon. He grew up on the family farm on Kenyon Hill in Deposit, NY. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1945 and was in the Burma/India/China Theater. He was self employed as a piano tuner for 57 years. George was a member of the New Milford Riffle and Pistol Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading ammo, and playing cards. Surviving are his four daughters, Meg (Leo) Sargent, Sayre, PA, Linda (Jim) Wellman, Montrose, PA, Audrey Carr, Hallstead, PA, and Sue (Tony) Harvatine, Union Dale, PA; a sister, Sara Otto, Minnapolis, MN; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. George was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Albert Carr in December 2012; 2 sisters, Mary and Pat; and 3 brothers, Floyd Jr., Charles, and Nicholas. Ed is survived by two daughters, Linda and Terry Hall, New Milford, PA and Carol and Tom Blawn, Daytona Beach, FL; two sons, Gary and Joan Krayeski and Richard and Pamela Krayeski, all of Great Bend, PA; grandchildren, Jackie and Troy Counsil, Kristina Hall, Abby Hall, Brad and Heather Krayeski, Jay Krayeski and Brandy, Robert Zembeck, Jason Zembeck and Carrie, Michael Romano, Alyssa Romano, Jessica Romano, Michelle Dunn and Andy, and Jason and Tonya Forno; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Cecelia Varcamp and Jeannie Albright; a brother, Eugene Kraweski; a sister-in-law, Dianna Krayeski; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Charles Krayeski, and a sister, Theresa Krayeski. Ed was employed as a butcher and union steward at Swift & Co., finally retiring from Kaplin Veal Co., Olyphant, PA. He was also a gunsmith for nearly sixty years, owning Ed's gun shop, Hallstead. Ed was an avid sportsman, loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, target shooting, and camping with his family. He was a charter member and past president of the New Milford Rifle and Pistol Club and a life member of the NRA. He was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and never missed Mass. He loved the Lord and his family. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Louis J. Mebus Sr. 78, Franklin Hill, Pa., passed away unexpectedly, December 28, 2008, in Big Pine Key, Fla.
Born October 16, 1930 in Port Monmouth, N.J., he was the son of the late Louis Kenneth and Minerva (Leroy) Mebus.
He was an automobile salesman for many years.
Louis served in the military.
He was a member of Franklin Hill Presbyterian Church, New Milford Rifle & Pistol Club, Central Conservation Club, South Montrose, Pa., Elks Club, Key Port, N.J. and also the former Odd Fellows Club, New Milford.
Louis loved fishing, hunting and trap shooting, especially fishing. His family was his life and will be dearly missed by all of them.
